Paintball Game psychology

In any competition, psychology is a decisive factor, but it is especially important in paintball. The very nature of paintball strengthens the psychological traits present in any sport. The more you play, the more you realize that success or failure largely depends on the mental state of the player. A confident team or player is closer to success and vice versa. Everything is really simple. A sense of confidence for one person and the team have feedback. A confident player can inspire a team; a strong-minded team can give courage to a timid player. At the team level, it is very important that the players know each other, feel good in such an environment and can play together. Such a team is already a step above the rest. Team spirit is needed when "one for all and all for one."

Obviously, victories alone increase the morale of the team. Almost always, frequent wins rally players. A series of successful games held together strengthens the team spirit, makes players hold on to each other and play again and again. This allows them to act as a whole, which in turn becomes the key to new victories. And victories strengthen the team spirit.

This is a vicious circle of causes and effects, and, as the old saying goes, there is nothing more successful than success. If you are a captain, pay attention to this pattern - benefit from it. Always do your best to prevent any negative, decadent sentiment in your team. Even if you are unlucky in the game all day (or a month), you just need to maintain the morale of your friends and not allow yourself or them to become discouraged. In paintball, the moment is very important, and it is much easier to catch and use if the team is positive. If you manage to instill confidence in the team "I can do this," consider that you are halfway there.

Now we will discuss psychology on a more individual level. Beginners should understand that even the most talented players will never be able to realize their potential, they play in a poor team.

Hands drop from the knowledge that you don’t have to count on your comrades. If your team plays well, you can strengthen your confidence, and your example can inspire others. Experience shows that there are two keys to the game:

Always play aggressively.

Always remember that this is a game.

Paintball can take very terrible forms if taken too seriously, and, of course, the best players are good-natured and calm about this sport. It would seem that this is obvious, but players forget the simplest: although paintball imitates the most merciless shooting, it is not real. If you get hit - nothing special, this is part of the game. You just say: “Good shot”, wipe the stain and wait for the next game. paintball is an all-forgiving entertainment, which can not be said about the real war. For example, one of the tactics - “attack the banzai” in a real battle would give extremely deplorable results. But in paintball, it allows you to create a good advantage and in eight cases out of ten it is successful.

The meaning is simple: you get free and start playing aggressively, if you keep in mind that this is just a game. And an aggressive game is just a hurricane! You can take such a risk that you never dreamed of in real life.

Why do newcomers show a bad tendency to hide and do nothing? Yes, because they take everything seriously! And this is one of the main reasons why an experienced team can easily “fill up” their inexperienced rivals. Excited beginners frightenedly hide in the bushes, while veterans go on an assault and get great pleasure from it. It seems that for precisely this reason, veterans of real battles become excellent players. It’s not at all that the military past prepared them for paintball. Most likely, having experienced the horrors of a real war, they relate to the game with ease. For them, it's just a vacation: after a real shot, play a fun parody of your past.

If you are only taking your first steps in paintball, don’t forget that you should have fun! With a marker in camouflage, a beginner can easily drown in fantasies. The faster you cross your fears, the sooner you will learn to win. But on the other hand, despite the fact that you must learn to overcome these feelings, you should not forget that they do exist, and if your opponent is embraced by them, use it! Imitation of a battle makes people play with more precautions than they should. As they say, don’t worry about the fact that the enemy is using your fear, let him worry that you are using his own.

That's why you should always play aggressively, even when defending. An aggressive player can use the slightest fear of the enemy to panic the latter. Your persistent initiative can deprive the adversary of the presence of the spirit and make him foolishly abandon his advantageous position.

Further. It is necessary to use loud, frightening screams, which is an integral part of the banzai attack. There is nothing better than escorting one’s aggressive movements with a warlike howl. It is these battle cries that are crucial when your opponent makes a decision: either continue to restrain the onslaught, or hastily retreat. And if you managed to breach their ranks and force them to retreat, you get a huge psychological advantage. Whether they like it or not (whether they admit it or do not recognize it), but you have already intimidated them. A frightened player in most cases is no longer a player.

Whether you shoot, shout or desperately make your way forward, the point of your advancement is to bring confusion into the ranks of the enemy, and if you succeed, victory is not far off! But do not forget that if your opponent suddenly feels anger at your offensive, all the fun will instantly disappear, both for him and for you. Healthy competition is always entertainment, insults and ridicule - rude and infantile.

On a personal level, your mental attitude should be positive. Do not let the minute moods upset your balance or change your playing style. Your game will be successful if you can step over your failures, not let them distract yourself, and therefore become vulnerable.

The internal motivation of a paintball player is largely similar to the psychology of gambling. Almost every move you make in a paintball game is a calculated risk, and your achievements depend on your ability to calculate.

In Russia today there are several hundred clubs, several regional federations. Since 1996, paintball has been recognized as a recommended sport for development (Resolution of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Tourism and Physical Culture No. 2/3-1 of June 9, 1996 and Order of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation for Tourism and Physical Culture No. 222 of June 26, 1996).

The Federation, together with the Paintball Development Fund, has developed the rules by which competitions are held. A lot has changed in paintball in literally all aspects since paintball turned into a sport, became an element of the entertainment and leisure industry, a tactical training method for security services and special forces.

Other sports in this regard are more gentle: if you make a mistake, maybe you will suffer, but you are still in the game. In paintball, if a mistake is made, all you can do is learn from it, but only behind the “tape”. This is the cornerstone of the game and partly explains the astounding popularity of paintball. Sure, this is a game for thinking people. An experienced player will soon realize the main thing: your worst enemy is you yourself. Almost all errors are a direct result of your thoughtless tactics. Do not take risks stupidly, take risks with the calculation.

The casino has a certain percentage of winnings, but it is not high: 5 1/4 percent in roulette and even less in blackjack. However, gambling houses owe their huge incomes not at all to these small numbers, but to the fact that customers rarely leave the casino, when, logically, this should have been done (i.e. while they are lucky). They continue to play until they lose everything. Thanks to the high turnover, the gambling house can afford small losses, while the forced exit of the player from the game due to the waste of all money is transferred by the latter very painfully. The player has to leave the game table at the most unfortunate moment for him. But this moment is favorable for the casino: all the client’s money has been transferred to the pocket of the gambling house. Experienced gamblers like to note the fact that you do not play against the casino (because the winning percentage is still set and unchanged), but against yourself. Greed and Disappointment (disbelief in one's strengths) are two of the main enemies of gamblers. Both of these phenomena are born by the brain of the player. Greed makes him sit at the table instead to take away the prize bestowed upon him by Lady Fortune, and to leave. Disappointment can do even more harm. It is thanks to him that the player begins to make stupid bets, wrong moves, and throw money in desperation.

In paintball you find yourself in a similar situation. As the well-known soldiers say: don’t worry about the bullet on which your name is written. She is already yours. Think better of a pool that says, "For those too curious." The risk is most of the paintball, and in spite of all efforts, you will often be a “hit player”. This must be understood and accepted. Do not forget about it. To improve, you must avoid the defeat caused by sloppiness and rashness. And, as you go to perfection, you can easily become the prey of Greed and Disappointment - the two worst enemies of the regulars of gambling houses. 30-40% of lesions - a consequence of the inability to cope with one of the above emotions. (In other cases, even making the right move, you still get your "bullet"). There are enough reasons for Disappointment: a marker flashed, your novice comrades do not move at all, as if they have grown into the ground, you just missed out in a silly way and the "target" did not slow to dissolve in the air. It doesn’t matter what caused it. Disappointment destabilizes your game.

Learn to recognize it and fight it. Do not let him push himself into hasty, thoughtless movements. Always try to play stably, even if not everything goes as you would like. If you feel that you have ceased to believe in yourself, play for some time more carefully and restrained.

This will help avoid the second wave of Disappointment caused by a reckless move. Try to relax and stay in the game - this is important for the team. You will play much better if you learn to obey the 3 commandments that any gambler will subscribe to: patience, restraint, positive attitude.

Do not forget about the other enemy - Greed. When everything goes well, and you have already mowed three or four, in no case do not lift your nose! Because the time has come when you must be on the alert. As soon as you feel invulnerable, literally out of nowhere - bam! - and "the struck player leaves the field." Do not ascend to heaven like that unreasonable casino player who, imagining himself invincible, puts all his hard-earned tokens on the table.

Try to leave the table before luck changes you. These are the psychological dangers that you may encounter in a game. Now let's talk about the psychological benefits that paintball gives you. For many, this is primarily the liberation from hostility and aggression. Those who occupy responsible positions, give all the best at work and are constantly in tension,

The author of this article has not mentioned yet another feature of paintball. The game allows you to identify the nature and temperament of a person, the style of his behavior in any critical situation - literally in a matter of minutes.

If in real life a person is given a “trial period”, for example, when applying for a job, and a person is revealed only in a few months, then paintball creates such critical situations that a person begins to show his character right on the field, right from the first minutes of the game. When a strong, armed enemy is hunting for you, when they shoot at you, this is not a situation to present yourself from the best (or even worse) side. You will be exactly what you are.

Watch the people in the game. An overly cautious, uninitiated person will also huddle on the field to the bushes, without making any contribution to the game. A rude person will play in the same way - rudely and with unnecessary anger. And vice versa - if on the field under the shots a person hides behind the backs of his comrades, in a life situation he will behave the same way. An excessively risky, messy person brings his team both on the playing field and in life.

Other psychological advantages of the game: you relax, stress passes. For a while, the game completely absorbs you, and suddenly you realize that you can successfully stand up in critical situations, daily problems that seemed to take on terrifying proportions begin to fade.

This undoubtedly reduces the stress of everyday life. In addition, the danger in paintball is more of an illusory, fictional character. For a mistake in the game you get only a spot of paint on the clothes. And how many laughter and jokes you hear at the games! Smiles on faces, endless bursts of laughter are typical features of a gaming day. And this is probably the main goal of paintball.
